A little history... I was fortunate enough to study under the wing of Serge Gilbert at La Cité Collégiale in Ottawa where I was technically trained for all types of photography. Being from Cape Breton, music and musicians were a part of life. Kitchen parties could erupt at anytime. My appreciation for music came from my father who dragged me around to different stages. This is why my decision to focus primarily on music photography came naturally.

What you see... This site is a compilation of photographs taken over a 25 year period. Unlike most contemporary photographers, I have chosen to pursue film photography. Granted, digital provides immediate access without the costs and time associated with development, I prefer the lattitude that film affords me. The bottom line for me is the quality.

The technical aspect... Depending on lighting conditions and venue, most images were shot with high speed film such as 3200 ISO. As far as my gear goes, people call me a dinausor when they see my 35mm Nikon FM2. My lenses of choice have been 28 mm, 50 mm and short telephoto lens (85-135 mm).

What I'm up to now... I have moved to the country and am setting up a new studio/lab. I am looking forward to shooting with a 4 X 5 camera - yes with film again, just a different format... The 'bug' hit me while sorting through my never ending film negative archives. I will begin posting landscape and photo documentaries on this site as I rediscover them...

I continue to document International and Canadian musicians. The Canadian Bluesbook project keeps evolving into a much bigger undertaking than anticipated. Please bare with me as I figure out the logistics of putting out a book. Being constantly introduced to new and old interesting Canadian blues talent from all corners of the country is making the process even harder... The more I dig, the deeper the well...
